Anti-Aging & Growth Factors
The first cell cultures for orthopedic use involved articular cartilage cell cultures in the late 1980s. The results of these early techniques were moderate, and the cost was very high.
In recent years, the revolution brought about by advances in genetic engineering has led to the actual clinical use of stem cells in medicine, with very promising initial results. The first applications of stem cells concerned neurological and cardiological cases, but their use was gradually extended to orthopedics as well. The studies conducted to date are not yet sufficient to support a conclusive scientific outcome, mainly due to legal challenges that research faced in the United States and Europe. However, the initial results from the use of differentiated stem cells in intra-articular injections for early-stage osteoarthritis are highly encouraging.
Additionally, the use of autologous platelet-derived factors, known as PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), which has been applied by our team in recent years, has produced excellent results. For our knowledge and development in this field, we would like to express our gratitude to Dr. M. Papacharalambous, an internist and specialized anti-aging physician, who inspired this entire effort.
Schedule an appointment to learn more about stem cell therapy and the cost of stem cell storage. Dr. Dretakis will provide detailed information on what stem cells are and how they can be used therapeutically for knee conditions, as well as meniscal injuries.
