Dr. Kosta Dretakis M.D Ph.D is an international Orthopaedic surgeon with American Greek and British education.
Dr Dretakis is the Head of the Second Orthopaedic Department of Hygeia Hospital from 2017 and an International trainer for Robotic Surgery from 2015. Dr Dretakis academic research is published in numerous prestigious orthopaedic scientific journals from USA and Europe and can be open accessed in Pubmed
Dr. K. Dretakis was born in 1965 and is married with Emily Dretakis and has 3 children. Dr. K. Dretakis graduated from American Athens College in 1983 and accomplished his medical degree in 1990 at the Medical School of Patras University. Dr. K. Dretakis completed In 1996 his Ph.D in Medical School of Crete University. Trained in University Hospital of Crete, Naval Hospital of Athens ,Bristol Royal infirmary, Avon Orthopaedic Center, Florida Physicians Naples Hospital FL, Adventist Chicago IL , Holy Cross Fort Lauderdale FL. Dr K. Dretakis has been awarded two times with the special fellowship from the Greek Orthopaedic society for joint reconstruction.
Dr. K. Dretakis has founded the department of osteoporosis and fractures in Athens Metropolitan hospital of Athens in 2008 and published research on vitamin D, fractures and bone metabolism. Currently he is the Head of the 2nd Orthopaedic Department of Hygeia Hospital which is an international center of exclellence for robotic orthopaedic surgery. The Department hosts training doctors from many different countries and is a teaching unit for students from the European University of Cyprus.
Dr. Dretakis is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons AAOS and is on the CME credits from 2010 up to now. Dr Dretakis is the first Greek orthopaedic surgeon trained in Robotic Surgery in 2011 and in 2014 performed the first robotic arm assisted surgeries in Greece for hip and knee replacement. Dr. K Dretakis is a senior researcher in many multicenter studies European Prospective Osteoporosis Study EFOS EXFOS. And EPOS. Included in the American scientific who is who from 2005 because of published research and citations.
